DescriptionAn interactive and practical session to propel your career coaching forward. Within this session participants will identify real-world barriers impacting coaching practice. They will have an opportunity to practice career coaching, both as a coachee and as the coach. An opportunity to reflect, build on and learn through peer experience. You will receive the latest version of the Confident Career Conversations Resource Pack containing practical tools to help you support others in career decision making.
Additional information

There is no pre-attendance work. Prior to attending participants are requested to reflect upon:

Instances where they have used career conversations and coaching since their original workshop.

Aspects they used that worked well.

Situations they have found challenging in holding career conversations.

If they have not had any career conversations, what other opportunities they think exist in their work where they could still practice coaching skills.

Booking courses

Aims

This workshop provides attendees with a range of skills to help them support others to make high quality and informed decisions about their career options and direction.

Objectives
  • To further develop confidence in career conversations by providing an opportunity for reflection on the uses and remaining challenges experienced in managing career conversations.
  • To create an open and supportive environment to share experience and to offer support to those experiencing challenges.
  • To provide an opportunity to practice coaching skills underpinning career conversations.
  • To receive the most up to date version of the Confident Career Conversations Resource Pack containing a range of practical tools.
Learning outcomes

By the end of this 90-minute session, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the real barriers that continue to influence their career-coaching practice and identify what gets in the way of confident conversations.
  • Apply core coaching skills through live one-to-one practice, taking the role of both coach and coachee.
  • Draw on peer experience to expand their range of approaches when supporting others with career decisions.
  • Reflect on recent coaching attempts, spotting what worked well and where they want to grow next.
  • Use new tools from the updated Confident Career Conversations Resource Pack to strengthen future conversations.
  • Build ongoing peer support, knowing how to connect with colleagues for continued learning after the workshop.
