SubjectPaediatric dentistry
DescriptionCurrent attitudes will be explored to this often perplexing condition which is becoming such a common presentation, not only in our surgeries and but also in everyday life. The session will provide an update on current research on the subject including aetiology, genetics and barriers which impact on dental care. Wendy Bellis will address the importance and relevance of recognising sensory issues in children with ASD and suggest coping strategies for helping the child and family adapt to these sensory challenges. Practical management approaches and communication strategies for the paediatric dentist in their delivery of dental care will be presented. The impact of Covid -19 on patient care will be explored. We are very fortunate that Wendy has agreed to share her knowledge and experience with us on a topic that is encountered regularly in general dental practice as well as the more specialised services and is particularly important a present with the changes in how dentistry is operating.
