Aims

To provide FDs with an opportunity to pick up a handpiece and perform some cavity preparations, with guided constructive feedback in a protected environment.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session, learners should be able to:

- Identify 2 or 3 early clinical learning needs to add to their portfolio

- Perform basic cavity preparations with accuracy and confidence

- Modify their cavity preparations to suit the restorative material they have selected

- Take impressions in a patient with a gag reflex with confidence
