DescriptionThis interactive workshop style of course is taught by Jane Bonehill. This is relevant to updating your management skills and becoming up to date and aware of the new 'GDC Enhanced CPD.' The morning session begins with '21st Century Management Competencies' covering management styles, feedback skills and organisational structure within the dental practice. The afternoon continues to progress into the new GDC Enhanced CPD updates and understanding of the PDP's. The session involves devising a personal development plan of your own. Being aware of why the changes are happening, so you are fully ready to plan, do and reflect and record your CPD according to the new criteria set by the GDC.

Aims

Session 1:-

To introduce a competency framework for those who have management responsibilities.

 

Session 2:-

To explore the General Dental Council's Enhanced Continuing Professional Development (ECPD) Scheme commencing January 2018.

Objectives

By the end of the day all delegates should be able to:

Session 1:-

  • Identify the changes in dental practice organisational structures.
  • Have explored a range of management styles and identified their own approach to providing direction and motivating people.
  • Analyse the four key management functions and the skills and capabilities required at three management levels.
  • Learn about 360 degree feedback to assess, evaluate and develop management competencies.

 

Session 2:-

  • Relate the purpose of ECPD to the system of registration.
  • Summarise the ECPD model to evidence continuous and continual development.
  • Devise a personal development plan specific to identified learning needs.
Learning outcomes

Session 1:-

  • For 'Managers' to apply the core competencies to their specific job role.
  • To meet GDC Learning Outcome B - Effective Practice Management & Business Management.

Session 2:-

  • Draw conclusions from the information delivered and determine a strategy to meet the GDC Enhanced CPD Scheme.
