AvailabilityCourse has taken place
SubjectMiscellaneous
DescriptionThis is a fantastic opportunity for dentists to meet with their pharmacist colleagues. We will be working together through case discussions - where our actions as dentists or pharmacists can significantly affect patient outcomes. We will be working in small groups, with the opportunity to learn from each other. Amongst other topics we will cover management of dental pain, antibiotic use, drug dependancy and presentation of mouth cancer.

Aims

To encourage pharmacists and dentists to work more closely in managing patients who present with dental problems.

Objectives

Following the evening, participants will;

  • Have a greater understanding of the role of the pharmacist
  • Be more aware of over the counter preparations that are available in the management of acute dental conditions
  • Appreciate the problem of drug dependency - and how, as dentists we may be contributing to this
  • Be aware of the scale of antibiotic prescribing in dentistry
Learning outcomes

Reduce professional isolation by encouraging both groups to learn from each other
