Aims

To update DCP's on how to best deliver oral hygiene to their patients , furthering  their skills in oral health education and oral health promotion

Objectives

To be able to deliver oral health messages effectively : the effect of oral health messages on patients and  healthcare professionals

To be able to  Communicate effectively : methods of communication, barriers to effective communication and principles of education

To be able to recognise and promote oral health to  target groups – identifying specific oral health messages for a variety of individuals using a variety of oral hygiene aids 

To be able to discuss dietary advice to individuals to enable the reduction of caries and periodontal disease.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course delegates will be able to :-

Demonstrate effective communication skills in delivering Oral Health promotion  using a variety of oral hygiene products
