DescriptionProfessor Nicola West & Dr Joon Seong will provide an update on the classification of periodontal disease with practical tips on implementing the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) S3 Clinical Practice Guidelines. They will discuss career and research opportunities within the field of periodontology and champion the case for the team approach to dental care to improve outcomes for patients with periodontal disease.
Additional information

This afternoon is aimed at Foundation Training Practices within the South West and is suitable for Foundation Dentists, Educational Supervisors, Dental Hygienists, Dental Therapists and Qualified Dental Nurses who work with an FD in practice.

If you wish to attend in person, there will be a buffet lunch available and tea and cake will be provided at 3.00. If you wish to attend virtually, you will be sent the link when you register for the course.

The day will be a useful introduction to the research project that Prof West is recruiting dental professionals for and together we can set a date for an evening Zoom meeting to explain the study protocol.

The aim of this afternoon session is to provide an update on current diagnosis & treatment and to consider career opportunities within the field of periodontology with specific advice on how to get involved in practice-based research.

2. Implement the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) S3 Clinical Practice Guidelines by utilising the team approach to periodontal treatment.

3. Utilise tools & protocols which simplify the periodontal workflow whilst allowing a robust medico-legal defence of your treatment.
