DescriptionA one-day course at the University of Leeds, Anatomy department where the trainees will perform surgical procedures on Thiel cadavers with consultant faculty and supervision. This course covers non-mesh continence surgery aligned with the training requirements for the RCOG ATSM and the specialist Urology training programme. It is a ‘hands-on’ cadaveric operative course, with a ratio of 1:2 per cadaver, and is aimed at Senior Trainees in both Urology and Urogynaecology in the Yorkshire & Humber region. Programme Includes: Colposuspension; Autologous Fascial Slings; Urethral Bulking Agents; Sacrospinous Fixation, Intravesical Botox The course will include a mixture of theory and practical sessions.

Please read the dissection room regulations prior to attending the course. You will be asked to sign that you have read the regulations on the day at registration.

The course Directors are  Dr Libby Slemeck-Airedale NHS Foundation Trust & Dr Fiona Marsh- Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust.

There are 4 places for Urogynaecology trainees and 4 places for Urology trainees.

The course is free for Yorkshire and Humber Trainees. Priority will be given to regional trainees. Please make sure you meet the correct grade criteria for each speciality before booking your place. (See course description)

Surgical gowns, over shoes, facemasks and gloves are provided for the lab. If you wish to wear theatre blues please bring your own.

Objectives

• To improve knowledge of pelvic anatomy and it’s relation to continence surgery.

• Expert instruction and guidance through the surgical steps to perform non-mesh surgical continence procedures.

• Hands-on experience to build confidence and skills in performing these procedures.

• Support in the achievement of the essential advanced training competencies in urogynaecologyical / female urology

surgery.
