The course will be delivered as a one-day experience, divided into four sessions. The four sessions will be made up of activities ranging from lectures on career guidance from experienced clinicians to more engaging and interactive tasks. Aims
  • Provide students, with an overview of career opportunities and different roles within being a doctor.
  • Help pupils make an informed choice on a desired career path as a future doctor.
  • Provide students with a memorable, engaging, and interactive experience.
Objectives
  • Introduce students to the career pathway of a doctor and the different routes that can be taken.
  • Introduce students to Basic Life Support.
  • Introduce students to some key clinical skills used in everyday life on the wards.
  • Introduce students to the life of a senior doctor and their job.
Learning outcomes

This is a course established to introduce the idea of a career in medicine to school students and inform them of what this entails. ​

Questionnaires will be handed out at the end of the day to gauge just how useful the course has been in boosting the students' interest and understanding of a medical career.
