DescriptionThis course provides practical techniques and theoretical knowledge that will enhance the skills needed to competently assist during the stages of endodontic treatment. Focusing on team work, this session will ensure Dental Nurses are able to confidently select and use materials appropriately, develop Four-handed Dentistry and Rubber Dam techniques.

David Baker is a GDP with over 15 years experience. He works in private general practice and accepts local endodontic referrals and is a clinical tutor at Simplyendo.

Aims

This session aims to enhance the knowledge, understanding and skills of the Dental Nurse to assist in completing effective Endodontic treatments within General Dental Practice.

Objectives

Discussions will focus on:

  • The aetiology of endodontic disease and how to diagnose and manage this
  • Why treatment may be necessary & what factors lead to a successful outcome
  • Endodontic cleaning, shaping and obturation techniques
  • Instruments, materials & equipment required during treatment and how these contribute to
  • Awareness of decontamination protocols regarding Endodontic Equipment.

Practical activities include

  • Rubber Dam placement
  • 4 Handed dentistry techniques
Learning outcomes

Following this session nurses will have an increased confidence in dealing with Endodontic treatment and will be able to demonstrate this within their day to day practice.
