This course will identify how to apply occupational health and safety to the dental setting. Delegates who achieve the required standard on the multiple choice test will be awarded in Environmental Health Level 2 Award in Conflict Resolution and personal safety

Jane Bonehill has a wealth of experience working within dentistry. She is a qualified health & safety practitioner, further education teacher, assessor, quality assurer.

Aims

To increase their knowledge and gain a better understanding of health and safety in the work place.

Objectives
  • Understand the principles of occupational health and safety and be able to apply this knowledge in the workplace.
  • State and understand the scope of legal and moral responsibilities whilst at work.
  • Understand the principles of accident prevention and the need to report accidents and dangerous occurrences
  • Understand the importance of risk assessment and the practical actions to improve health and safety, therefore, prevent accidents
  • Be aware of the hazards and risks associated with the workplace, work equipment, work activities, fire, display screen equipment and hazardous substances
  • Determine reasonable methods to control risks associated with all aspects of the working environment
Learning outcomes
  • Define the principles of occupational health and safety and identify how to apply this in the dental setting.
  • Compare and contrast legal and moral responsibilities for health and safety and demonstrate levels of accountability
