This course is subsidised by Health Education North West. The subsidised fee for this event is £50 per person, which includes the practical sessions and consumables, a sandwich lunch and refreshments. The course closing date is 11th January 2019. However, places on this course are limited to 16 and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Aims
  • The aim of this course is to provide dental hygienist/therapists with up to date practical guidelines regarding the use of ultrasonic instruments (Dentsply Sirona and Cavitron) for effective periodontal treatment.
Objectives

By the end of the event delegates will be able to:

  • Describe how ultrasonics work and are used for non-surgical periodontal therapy
  • Discuss indications and contraindications for use
  • Select the correct ultrasonic insert for calculus and biofilm removal
  • Demonstrate the correct technique for utilization of the ultrasonic scaler
  • Identify how to reduce operator fatigue by addressing correct posture, positioning and instrument technique
  • Identify maintenance procedures for enhanced effectiveness and efficiency
