DescriptionThis course is part of a programme designed to help dentists and Practice Managers navigate the rules and regulations of NHS dentistry. This session is for those with experience of working in NHS dentistry but wish to explore in more detail the rules, regulations and duty of care to patients.
Additional information

Ian Wild is the speaker for this session, Ian has been the principal dentist at our predominantly NHS 6 surgery practice in Lancaster since 1988.  In that time I have been involved in Foundation training for about 17 years and lecture to the schemes on the subject of NHS regulations.

Aims

To provide an overview of the rules and regulations of providing and claiming for ‘Mandatory Services’ within an NHS Dental Contract and the duty of care NHS performers have for their patients.

Objectives

Discuss what treatments are expected to be provided and the rules and regulations associated with claiming for courses of treatment within an NHS contract.

Discuss when it is (and is not) appropriate to claim multiple courses of treatment related to ‘Phased treatment planning’ within Clinical Pathways.

Discuss the rules and ethics of mixing NHS and Private treatment.

Learning outcomes

Delegates will be able to work ethically and safely within the rules and regulations of NHS Dentistry.
