Aims

To understand the mode of transmission of micro-organisms and the methods of Infection prevention and control.

Objectives
  • Identify the roles and responsibilities within a dental practice setting.
  • Recall the diseases/micro-organisms patients are likely to present with and how onward transmission can be prevented/controlled
  • Demonstrate good hand hygiene
  • Recall the order for safe donning and removal of PPE
  • List immunisations required for health care workers
Learning outcomes

Following the session participants will:

  • Understand the essential and best quality requirements of the HTM 01-05 guidelines
  • Be able to assess their own practices level of compliance and identify areas for improvement
  • Recognise effective measures to manage the risk of physical, chemical and microbiological contamination in the practice of dentistry.
