Aims

To provide an overview of head and neck cancer and its contemporary management, the patient's journey and the role of primary care within this.

Objectives
  • To appreciate the aetiology and presentation of head and neck cancers
  • To understand how to refer a patient with a suspicious lesion and how the referral pathway works
  • To understand the patient journey from diagnosis to long term follow up and the multi-disciplinary team involved in their management
  • To understand the early and long term sequalae of head and neck cancers
  • To understand their role in managing such patients
