Aims
  • To provide Educational Supervisors with the knowledge and skills necessary to support other Educational Supervisors or Foundation dentists, through the appraisal process
  • To create an effective personal development plan and produce a well-organised portfolio of professional practice which shows their adherence to the GDC professional standards and enhanced CPD scheme. In addition show their ability to reflect effectively on their role and the care they provide.
Objectives
  • Discuss with colleagues the requirements of the GDC Enhanced CPD scheme.
  • Review the requirements of the ES appraisal scheme. Demonstrate the ability to support others to reflect at an appropriate professional level. Undertake exercises that help formulate a personal development plan.
  • Discuss effective ways to structure and present a portfolio
Learning outcomes

Delegates will be able to:

  • Identify the main components of the GDC Enhanced CPD scheme and be able to disseminate this to Foundation dentists and appraisees;
  • Utilise the ES Appraisal scheme and principles of appraisal to help others create a thoughtful Personal Development Plan that reflects their professional needs;
  • Discuss the importance of reflective practice in the Enhanced CPD scheme and as part of general professional practice;
  • Advise others on how to compile and organize an effective professional portfolio.
