Aims

Overall aim:

To improve leadership, communication and teamwork in everyday dental practice.

Specific aim:

To provide a venue at which Practice Managers can exchange ideas and share information with like-minded people.

Objectives

1. To explore the skills and behaviours that contribute to being an effective Practice Manager.

2. To explore important differences between leadership and management in dentistry.

3. To discuss latest developments in topics such as health and safety, marketing, compliance, patient care, quality assurance and staff management.

4. To offer practical tips on running a smooth and efficient dental practice.

Learning outcomes

Following this course learners should be able to: 

1. Describe the qualifications, skills, experience, knowledge and other attributes which a practice manager must possess to perform the job duties, so as to identify opportunities for further development of self and team.

2. Outline effective strategies for practice to meet its aims and objectives within a profitable, efficient and safe working environment, while maintaining a happy and committed team.

3. Update dental practice staff on latest developments for primary dental care providers.

4. Get results by making best use of available human, financial and material resources through hands-on involvement.
