Aims

The aim is to provide continuing education and training in all aspects of dental radiography as part of life-long learning for the operators who carry out all or part of the practical aspects associated with a radiographic examination.

To review radiographic rules and regulations

To understand the principles of radiation protection

To understand the designated roles and responsibilities in dental radiography

To QA radiographs and understand the process

Learning outcomes

1 To explain the principles of radiation physics and the risks of ionising radiation in dental radiography.

2 To consider radiation doses in dental radiography and factors affecting dose.

3 To consider the principles of radiation protection.

4 To provide information on the requirements of quality assurance systems, medico legal dental radiography, record keeping and clinical audit.
