Important Information for Face to Face Courses

Please ensure you have a suitable face covering following government guidance. If you are exempt from wearing a face covering please notify us as soon as possible.

Please note: A face visor or shield may be worn in addition to a face covering but not instead of one. This is because face visors or shields do not adequately cover the nose and mouth, and do not filter airborne particles.

For delegates attending face to face courses please be advised that your details may be shared with NHS Test and Trace if requested.

Face to face attendees are reminded that:

Should they have symptoms of coronavirus (a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a loss or change to sense of smell or taste), they should not attend an event and let the organisers know by contacting dentaladmin.yh@hee.nhs.uk.

It is the individual’s duty and responsibility to comply with public health measures to control the Covid-19 pandemic and respond to NHS Test and Trace or local contact tracing systems. If contacted, attendees should confirm their attendance at this event and ask them to contact dentaladmin.yh@hee.nhs.uk for the attendee list.

Aims

To comprehensively discuss the aetiology and different approaches to the management of tooth wear, ranging from minimally invasive additive approaches to removable appliances to manage severely worn dentitions.

Objectives

Have a clear understanding of the aetiology of non-carious tooth surface loss.

  1. Appreciate the different options available to manage tooth surface loss, including the use of full coverage crowns, partial coverage onlays, overdentures and composite resin.
  2. Be able to assess and work up a patient with tooth surface loss for treatment with composite resin or an over denture.
  3. Appreciate that a full contour wax-up and palatal matrix/index can significantly help the clinician to restore worn teeth with composite resin, especially if a layering technique is to be employed.
  4. Understand the limitations, longevity and maintenance issues relating to the use of composite resin to restore worn teeth.
Learning outcomes

After this course, delegates will be able to:

  1. Diagnose the cause tooth surface loss on patient.
  2. More effectively treat tooth surface loss.
