Description* THIS COURSE IS FOR UP TO 6 MEMBERS OF AN EXISTING DENTAL TEAM * The University of Leeds DME team are delighted to offer the theory of common conditions and ABCDE patient assesment via ZOOM. The session is facilitated by one of our clinical skills facilitators and remains interactive and informative. The session aims to support dental teams with staying current and up to date with best practice guidance for the management of medical emergencies in the dental context.

Aims

To provide an update on best practice for the management of medical emergencies in the dental setting.

Objectives

Candidates engage with interactive lectures delivered remotely. Lecture content includes DME common condition management with video demonstration of the associated medicine adminstration technique. ABCDE assessment is delivered interactively and supported by facilitated discussion.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session and subsequent refelection you should be able to;

  • Recall the ABCDE approach to the assessment of the acutely unwell person
  • Analyse ABCDE assessment findings and apply them to inform decision making
  • To recall conditon specific best practice guidance to agree an informed management plan for an acutley unwell person presented in a case study
  • Recall the safe administration of conditon specific medications
  • Be in a position to make an informed assessment of the arrangments for management of the acutley unwell person in the dental settings where you work
