Aims

To give an overview of the dental management of patients who take anticoagulants.

Objectives

The talk will cover:

  • Why patients might be prescribed anticoagulants
  • The mechanisms of action of different anticoagulants
  • How to risk assess dental treatment for patients taking anticoagulants
  • The SDCEP guidance on anticoagulants March 2022 update
