| Lecturer profile | Stephen Crank is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon/Head and Neck Surgeon at the Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. He was appointed in 2009 and has been Lead Clinician for Maxillofacial Services in Hull since 2011. His main clinical interests centre on both ablative and reconstructive aspects of head and neck malignancy including microvascular reconstruction. In addition, he works closely with Neurosurgeons through the Skull Base team providing surgical access for tumours in this region and repair of skull base defects. Stephen also undertakes all aspects of general Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery including trauma, salivary gland disorders, skin malignancy and dento-alveolar surgery, and takes a full and active role in the education of junior doctors and dentists . |

| Lecturer profile | Sally Eapen Simon is a Consultant in Dental Public Health in Yorkshire and Humber (Public Health England) and is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Sheffield. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and currently contributes to postgraduate teaching of students enrolled on the Masters in Dental Public Health. Her clinical experience includes general practice, hospital and community dental service where she was a Senior Dental Officer for 10 years and responsibilities including being the clinical lead for both the epidemiology and oral health promotion team. Whilst in this post, she led several successful public health oral cancer awareness campaigns in Hull and East Riding. |

| Lecturer profile | Qualified as a Dental Hygienist from University of Cardiff over twenty years ago. I work three days at Leeds Dental Institute as a Tutor Dental Hygienist involved in the education of dental undergraduates, hygienists/therapists and postgraduates, including the role of external examiner for dental hygienists. I have a wide variety of experience in NHS dentistry and specialist periodontal practice, providing care for orthodontic and periodontal patients as Staff Hygienist at Seacroft Hospital Leeds. I also work in private specialist perio/restorative practice treating patients with dental implants.
I am involved in post graduate teaching and support education courses at The Yorkshire Deanery. I have provided care to oncology patients within a multidisciplinary team and have lectured in this area to various DCP and dentist groups.

| Lecturer profile | I have been a nurse for over 28 years. Most of my career has been in cancer. I was the lead nurse for head and neck cancer services for over 13 years, transforming services and patient experiences during that time, Internationally I have been lucky enough to be involved in looking at head and neck cancer services in California and Libya. Back at home and Nationally through working with Macmillan on a Yorkshire redesign of head and neck cancer services as Project lead , developing new services and professional roles in head and neck cancer.
I am currently and lead cancer nurse for all cancer sites at Huddersfield Royal infirmary. I am still actively involved with head and neck through being a chief investigator for research into intimacy and sexual function after a diagnosis and treatment with head and neck cancer as well as being a trained and qualified psychosexual therapist…. Following the transition of Public Health to the Local Authority in April 2013 Joanne was appointed as Tobacco lead for the service. |

| Lecturer profile | Catherine has had a varied career. As well as teaching abroad and in England, she has also had a career in social work and in human resource management in both the voluntary sector and in the civil service. Her interests include music, reading and travelling to see extended family in various parts of the world.
She was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in the tonsil and base of tongue in March 2007. She underwent surgery followed by radio and chemotherapy which was completed in November 2007. After retiring from paid work, in November 2009 Catherine became a volunteer assisting at the Maxillofacial OPD in BTHFT, and as a "patient buddy" saw patients at appointment clinics. She has been involved in improving the service in the unit as well as participating in clinical trials run by the Head and Neck Research Team.
