Lecturer profileLauren is a Specialty Registrar in Special Care Dentistry currently in her final year. She qualified from University of Leeds BChD (Hons) in 2008 then headed back to South Yorkshire as she is originally from Doncaster. After carrying out her VT job in Sheffield she fell in love with the city and decided to stay, and did an SHO job for a year. This was a 6 month rotation in max fax followed by a 6 month rotation in Special Care, during which she obtained her MFDS. This job ignited her passion for special care dentistry and following this she took up a job as a dental officer 4 days a week and an associate in practice one day a week. Shortly after she started working for the Doncaster out of hours dental service, something that she continues to do. Her main interest is the treatment of medically compromised patients and older adults suffering with dementia and degenerative disorders as well as enjoying providing treatment under intravenous sedation. In her spare time she plays high level hockey for Doncaster hockey club, and every now and then her dental expertise is needed on the pitch!
