Lecturer profile | RGN, BSc Hons SCPHN I have qualifications in Dental Nursing and have experience working as a Residential Social Worker with children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties in an educational setting. These experiences led me to complete Registered General Nurse qualification. After qualifying as an RGN and after a number of years I left the acute hospital setting and moved to the community where I supported the District Nursing Teams and GPs in the Wakefield District. In 2002 I joined the School Nursing Service supporting the immunisation programme within the School Nursing Team. Whilst working in the School Nursing team I studied at Leeds Metropolitan University and gained a BSc Hons Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Degree which led to my employment as Clinical Lead for School Nursing. In August 2010 I moved into the world of Safeguarding Children. I was successful in gaining employment as a Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children in an acute hospital trust where I remained for 11 years. I supported the acute hospital setting and throughout this time had direct responsibility for the Children’s Community Nursing Teams, Children in Care Team, Specialist Nurses and Community Dental Service. I am currently still employed as Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children but have recently moved to take up the position in a corporate team of a community trust with responsibility for the 0-19 Service (Health Visiting & School Nursing). I have gained a wealth of both personal and professional experiences over the past 32 years of nursing. Experiencing many opportunities of working closely with partnership organisations, Police, Social Care, Safeguarding Children Partnership and Local Authority Legal Teams and maintaining my passion to improve outcomes for children and young people. ‘Safeguarding is Everyone’s Business’
