DescriptionTo enable dental nurses to understand the theoretical knowledge and practical learning necessary for the provision of oral health education in relevant dental environments.

VENUE INFORMATION - Please present at the School of Dental Nursing Department on Level 6 (as you come our of the lift on level 6 turn right and follow the corridor round, the department is well signposted).

 

BEFORE BOOKING, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Due to the amount of home study required by these courses, you can only apply for ONE NEBDN course at any one time
     
  2. Please download the attached Supplementary Information Form, complete and return it to us
     
  3. When you have been accepted on the course there will also be a charge of £175 for the NEBDN Examination Fee and £20 for the NEBDN Record of Achievement (which you pay directly to NEBDN.  These prices are correct as at 07.04.14 but may be subject to change)
     
  4. Please ensure you can attend all six dates.  Full attendance is mandatory NOTE if one session is missed you will be unable to complete the course or take the examination. 
     
  5. Dental Nurses must have the support of a Dentist who will act as a mentor throughout this course and qualification
     
  6. Delegates must be prepared for considerable home study to achieve this qualification
     
  7. It is encouraged that Dental Nurses participating in this course undertake the examiniation for the NEBDN Certificate in Oral Health Education (Date to be confirmed)

Aims

To enable dental nurses to understand the theoretical knowledge and practical learning necessary for the provision of oral health education in relevant dental environments. It will prepare delegates to feel confident undertaking the formal NEBDN Postgraduate Certificate in Oral Health.

Objectives
  • Understand the theoretical basis of oral health education and be able to communicate oral health messages.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and practice of planning and providing oral health to patients.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of dental structure, physiology and anatomy.
  • Have an understanding of the social, economic and political influences on society’s general health and oral health and how to emphasise the oral message on prevention of disease
  • Provide oral health messages on prevention of disease to patients.
