DescriptionThis course consists of the theorectical knowledge and clinical skills practice to enable delegates to feel competent and confident in the clinical application of fluoride varnish on patients.

Please note this the second date of a 2 day course, with mandatory attendance on both dates.  The first date is 27th September 2012 (course code BRAD27SEP12), please book onto the first date (you will be booked onto this date by the Dental Admin Team)

Delegates should note:

  1. Full attendance of the two day course is required
  2. 10 log sheets are to be completes in the work place under the supervision of a mentoring GDC registered Dentist by the indicated time
  3. Summative evaluation and feedback on theoretical and clinical skills will establish the competency of the candidate before the issuing of the Certificate of Competence in Fluoride Application
  4. Delegates must have the support of a GDC registered, supervising mentor Dentist throughout the whole of this competency course, including agreeing to assist with the log sheet completion and the work-based aspect of prescribing Fluoride application on patients..
  5. Delegates must have indemnity insurance, at least one of the following:
    1. Crown Indemnity
    2. Employer Indemnity
    3. Personal Professional Indemnity
  6. Delegates must have current medical emergency CPD training
  7. Delegates must be currently registered with the General Dental Council

Aims
  • Principles of Health & Safety in the dental environment
  • To demonstrate knowledge and clinical competency in relation to the application of Fluoride varnish on patients
  • Competency and understanding of current legislation and ethics relating to the application of Fluoride varnish on patients
  • Awareness of dental caries and other oral diseases relating to the use of Fluoride in dentistry
  • Patient management, communication and selection for Fluoride varnish application
Objectives
  • Delegates will be equipped with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to competently apply Fluoride Varnish on patients under the prescription of a dentist, as stated by the General Dental Council.
