Aims
  • To discuss aetiology, presentation and management of amelogenesis imperfect
  • To discuss the management in the short and long term of traumatised permanent teeth, and means of their replacement
  • Why an understanding of Amelogenesis Imperfecta (AI) genetics is important to patient care
  • To provide knowledge on the current evidence supporting the use of Mineral Trioxide Aggregate and regenerative endodontics in managing non-vital immature permanent teeth.

Objectives
  • Understand the genetic causes of AI and their relevance
  • Develop treatment plan for patients with AI
  • Evaluate the evidence relating to management of open apices
  • Be able to plan short and long term treatment of traumatised teeth, with an understanding of the long term prognosis
  • Current understanding of the genetic causes of AI
  • The relevance of genetic information to patient care
  • The potential of genetic information for clinical service development
  • Know the current evidence surrounding the use of Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) in managing non-vital immature permanent teeth.
  • Know the current evidence surrounding the use of regenerative endodontics in managing non-vital immature permanent teeth.
