Aims

To provide an update on guidelines for periodontal screening and management in the under 18s in dental practice

Objectives

By the end of the course delegates will:

  • Be aware of the various periodontal diseases that can affect children and adolescents and know how to diagnose them
  • Be able to identify paediatric dental patients at risk of periodontal diseases
  • Have a sound knowledge of the published guidelines for screening of children and adolescents for periodontal problems
  • Know how to enhance periodontal health in their paediatric patient group
  • Know when to refer to a specialist in paediatric dentistry or specialist periodontologist
