Aims
  • To understand what it means to be deaf aware and appreciate its benefits to you and your deaf patients
  • To learn how to identify different types of hearing loss and communicate appropriately
  • To learn basic communication techniques including sign language and lip reading
Objectives

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Understand different types of deafness
  • Use a range of simple, commonly used communication skills (verbal, manual and written)
  • Understand technologies used by deaf people to communicate
  • Address, great and take leave of a Deaf sign language user
  • Spell the alphabet in BSL
