Aims
  • To update dental hygienists and therapists on classification and current thinking on the management of patients with periodontal diseases.
  • To review clinical cases, with discussion of patient management options for the dental team
  • To complete hands on practical experience on the use of a variety of periodontal instruments on phantom head models.
  • To discuss the use of adjunctive therapies, surgery and maintenance care in the management of periodontal conditions
Objectives

By the end of the course delegates will:

  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the features of a variety of periodontal conditions.
  • Be able to describe the roles of the dental team and the treatment options for management of the periodontal patient.
  • Be confident in the appropriate use of a variety of instruments for root surface debridement
  • Understand when, where and how to best use adjunctive therapies.
