Aims

This course aims to instruct on contemporary approaches to oral health assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning for children, with special emphasis on planning and delivery of preventive care.

Objectives
  • Conducting effective oral health assessment and oral health review for children
  • Understanding and interpreting the diagnosis
  • Understanding the role of risk assessment and constructing appropriate treatment plans
  • Designing and delivering an appropriate preventive plan for individual child patients
Learning outcomes
  • Apply enhanced skills when taking bitewing radiographs in child patients
  • Take more comprehensive histories to better enable holistic care of child patients
  • Demonstrate increased awareness of the evidence base concerning dental caries management in children
