If you have completed a prescribing and interpreting radiograph course by a consultant DMFR (Dentomaxillofacial Radiology) you may be eligible to book on to this course. please contact dental admin with the course details and we can check it meets the prerequisite of this course.

Participants must be GDC registered Participants must be up to date with IRMER Participants must already be prescribing and taking radiographs in their role Participants must have completed the Radiography Interpretation for Dental Hygienist and Therapist course.

Aims

To support professionals to develop a greater understanding of radiographic interpretation, focusing on periodontal disease and caries.

Objectives

The course will: • Discuss diagnosing periodontal disease and problems associated with imaging periodontal tissues. • Describe how to identify and diagnose all stages of caries. • Explain how to diagnose simple periapical lesions and reporting of them and be able to make straightforward recommendations.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course the participant will be able to: Apply new knowledge to support diagnosing periodontal disease, the various stages of caries, and simple periapical lesions. Analyse images, report findings, and make appropriate recommendations in line with current guidelines.
