Description | The Certificate in Orthodontic Dental Nursing is a post-registration Qualification awarded by the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) aimed at registered dental nurses in specialist practice, where skills and knowledge above general dental nursing training would be advantageous in the workplace. |
Additional information | In order to undertake the qualification, a dental nurse must: a) be registered with the GDC b) have the support of their employing dentist to act as workplace supervisor c) be enrolled with a course provider accredited by NEBDN d) have IT camera and audio An additional fee of £205 is payable to the NEBDN for Registration, Record of Competence and associated exam fees. The register is now closed for 2024. |

Aims | To provide candidates with the theoretical training and guidance to attain competence and pass the exam in Orthodontic Dental Nursing. |
Objectives | Explain techniques for assisting during a range of specific orthodontic procedures. Describe the casting of study models, delivery of oral health education & care of appliances, taking of clinical photographs and carrying out cephalometric tracing, measurement and digitisation. Demonstrate knowledge of all areas of NEBDN syllabus in the Certificate in Orthodontic Dental Nursing. |
