Aims

An overview of common and/or important Oral Medicine presenting complaints encountered in general practice with consideration of recognition of signs and symptoms, differential and definitive diagnoses, management options and when to refer patients for further advice.

The aim is to provide an overview of important Oral Medicine topics of relevance to oral healthcare practice including:

  • Recognition of non-dental symptoms and signs including oral mucosal lesions
  • Understanding the appropriate management of these conditions
  • Identification of cases which need early referral and those that may be managed within the practice
Objectives

By the end of the session and their own studies, participants should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of key issues related to Oral Medicine practice of commonly encountered and important conditions.
