Aims

To give delegates an overview and practical experience in advanced Oral Surgery procedures.

Objectives

 By the end of the course delegates will:

  • Be able to assess the difficulty of tooth extraction
  • Have knowledge of the equipment required for surgical removal of teeth in general dental practice
  • Be able to surgically extract a partially erupted lower third molar tooth on a Frasaco phantom head, remove artificial bone and suture.
  • Have knowledge of aseptic technique
  • Be able to describe different flap designs for the removal of a lower third molar tooth
  • Be aware of the complications of surgical removal of teeth
  • Be aware the indications for biopsy and surgical approached
  • Be able to recognise and know how to manage dental infections
