Description | Course is only suitable for professionals currently confident in prescribing and taking radiographs in their clinical role. The knowledge-based course is supported by a reflective record of competence logbook. An occupationally competent mentor should be allocated to assess work-based cases and declare competency after a minimum of 100 intra oral images have been recorded. |
Additional information | Participants must be GDC registered. Participants must be up to date with IRMER Participants must already be prescribing and taking radiographs in their role. Participants must bring a laptop with them to the course. This course includes an optional online evening peer review meeting on 18th July to support further learning and development. You will automatically be booked on this and, although optional, is highly recommended. |

Aims | Supports delegates to develop their knowledge of radiation protection, legislation & justification. To increase the participants confidence & ability to prescribe, take & interpret dental radiographs. |
Objectives | This course will: •Discuss the statutory requirements relating to dental practice IRR and IR(ME)R Legislation, including radiation physics, risks, doses, selection criteria and radiation protection. •Describe different image views, faults, and interpretation pitfalls. •Explain the principles of radiological interpretation. |
Learning outcomes | By the end of the course delegates will be able to: Apply knowledge to the theory of IRR and IR(ME)R Legislation and have a clear understanding how to achieve and demonstrate competency in radiograph interpretation. |
