Aims

The aims are to discuss the aging process and management of older people in primary care, during domiciliary care, and in residential care.

Objectives

The programme will discuss and describe:

The aging process and age related changes to oral health and the oral cavity.

Management of the aging dentition including risk factors for oral disease, disease prevention disease, and treatment of the older patients.

Domiciliary and residential care including visit planning and referrals to multi-professional teams

Learning outcomes

By the end of the programme, you will be able to apply knowledge and understanding to more confidently support the oral health care needs of the older patient population.
