Aims

The course will cover the theory and practical aspects of treating caries in the primary dentition as well as treatment planning of more complex cases.

Objectives

The following techniques will be discussed together with putting them into practice in the lab:

Rubber dam and local anaesthetic

Behaviour management

Pulpotomy techniques and medicaments

Stainless steel crowns (including conventional and Hall technique) Treatment planning

Learning outcomes

After this course, delegates will be able to:

Manage dental caries in primary teeth using a biological approach.

Select and justify the use of appropriate restorative materials when restoring primary teeth with reference to the underlying evidence base.

Provide vital and non-vital pulp treatment on primary molars using modern techniques and materials.
