Aims

This course has been designed and produced by two experienced Dental Implant Nurses and aims to explain the processes of patient preparation, decontamination and preparation of the dental implant environment, instruments required and the role of an Implant Nurse.

Objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of setting up a sterile Environment as quickly and efficiently as possible and the reasons why this is carried out.

  • Explain what is involved in patient preparation.

  • Discuss roles for Scrub nurse and Runner nurse.

  • Show and discuss all instruments and equipment needed for Implant placement.
 

  • Sterilisation and preparation prior to the day of surgery.

  • Provide a demonstration of hand washing technique, gowning up and putting on sterile gloves
