Description | This training course supports dental nurses who are involved with NHS Flexible Commissioning programmes. Education will be delivered over 4 half day sessions, allowing 1 month between for independent learning. ALL SESSIONS MANDATORY - CPD CAN NOT BE GIVEN FOR PARTIAL ATTENDANCE. | ||
Additional information | GDC applicants must attend all sessions, and be enrolled on eLfH. A supervisor is required for the competency workbook. Applicants must have access to a digital devise with camera and audio. ALL SESSIONS MANDATORY - CPD CAN NOT BE GIVEN FOR PARTIAL ATTENDANCE. | ||

Aims | This online course aims to provide dental nurses with knowledge and understanding to support the NHS Flexible Commissioning programme in primary care. | ||
Objectives | To explain the role of the OH Champion, To revise oral anatomy, caries process and prevention. To explain and discuss basic OH education including measuring plaque and applying fluoride. To highlight the importance of effective behaviour change conversations. | ||
Learning outcomes | By the end of the session dental nurses will be able to demonstrate completion in all components of the Flexible Commissioning OH Champion training course. DNs will be able to apply knowledge, understanding and skills to communicate effective oral health advice to patients and safely apply fluoride varnish. | ||
