DescriptionThis 6 session training course is to support dental nurses who are involved with the NHS Level 2 programme in paediatric dentistry or are currently working with this specific paediatric target group. GDC applicants must:

1. Attend all sessions and be enrolled on eLfH.

Aims

This online course aims to provide dental nurses with knowledge and understanding to support the NHS Level 2 paediatric dentistry programme in primary care.

Objectives

The course will:

Explain the specific role of the dental nurse to support patient care.

Explore deeper learning of paediatric anatomy, caries process and prevention.

Provide an opportunity to cover theory of OH education including measuring plaque and applying fluoride varnish.

Review the importance of having effective behaviour change conversations

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session dental nurses will be able to support patients and dental teams deliver effective care pathways to patients.

DNs will be able to apply knowledge, understanding and skills to communicate effective oral health advice to patients, measure and record plaque and safely apply fluoride varnish.
