Aims

Periodontology aims:

  • To understand the inflammatory aetiology of periodontal disease
  • To understand the role of the patient in periodontal inflammation control
  • To appreciate treatment objectives in periodontitis management
  • To understand the possible mechanisms correlating periodontitis and various systemic diseases

Endodontics aims:

  • To provide practitioners with  an overview of contemporary materials and techniques in endodontic treatment
Objectives

Periodontology Objectives:

By the end of this session participants will be able to:

  • Explain the nature of periodontal disease to patients
  • Instruct patients in detailed plaque control
  • Select appropriate treatment approaches for periodontal patients
  • Discuss with patients the relationships between periodontitis and systemic disease

Endodontics objectives:

At the end of the course delegates will:

  • Have a greater understanding of the diagnosis of pain of endodontic origin
  • Be aware of recognised and newer techniques for preparation  of root canals
  • Have knowledge of the rationale and agents using in canal  irrigants
  • Understand the principals of using apex locators
  • Be aware of conventional and recently introduced obturation techniques
