Aims

To enable dental nurses to understand the theoretical knowledge and practical learning necessary for the provision of oral health education in relevant dental environments

Objectives
  • Understand the theoretical basis of oral health education and be able to communicate oral health messages.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and practice of planning and providing oral health to patients.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of dental structure, physiology and anatomy.
  • Have an understanding of the social, economic and political influences on society’s general health and oral health and how to emphasise the oral message on prevention of disease
  • It is encouraged that Dental Nurses participating in this course undertake the examination in September 2013 for the NEBDN Oral Health Educators Certificate
  • Dental Nurses will be expected to pay the NEBDN for their Record of Experience and Examination Fee
  • Full attendance is expected from all those delegates given a place on this course
  • Dental Nurses must have the support of a Dentist who will act as a mentor throughout this course and qualification
