Additional information

The Taster session lasts 90 mins – 2 hours. It isn’t formal training but gives a general introduction to what the the Makaton Language Programme is and how it can be used to support people with communication difficulties or delayed speech in a wide range of settings. Participants will learn the signs and symbols for our most commonly used everyday words and concepts, plus some tailored to your area of study or interest.

Aims

To introduce the Makaton Language Programme.

Objectives

Participants will learn what Makaton is, how it can be used to support and develop communication in others, and some basic vocabulary.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session, participants will have an understanding of what Makaton is and how to use it, and will have learned a basic vocabulary of signs and symbols for approximately 40 words.
