Aims

To provide an overview of the NEBDN syllabus in OHE and discuss delivering oral health education to a variety of patient groups

Objectives

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the two most common oral health diseases – caries and periodontal disease
  • Recognise the importance of good communication skills and how to implement them effectively with all target groups
  • Discuss appropriate teaching aids and the importance of evaluating an OHE session
  • Explore the NEBDN syllabus for the OHE post qualification and discuss the exam format and completion of log sheets
