Description: Since the late 1990s , there has been a revolution in light curing in dentistry. Light emiting diode curing units (LED LCUs) are replacing quartz-tungsten halogen light curing units (QTH LCUs). In addition to single LED wavelength LED LCUs, there has been an introduction of LED LCUs comprising LEDs with different wavelenghts within the same LCU to cater for composites with multiple photoinitiators. In the early years, blue LEDs were very low powered devices and considerable ingenuity was required to build prototype LCUs.
