  • Help supervisors to try out approaches to use with supporting returning trainees through effective supervision sessions
Objectives
  • Compare and contrast the roles of Clinical and Educational Supervisors
  • Explain the overall structure required for educational and clinical supervision
  • Prepare appropriately for meetings between supervisor and trainee
  • Use a variety of techniques to bring the best out of trainees
Learning outcomes
  • Describe the issues that may cause problems for returning trainees
  • Recognise the warning signs of continuing problems
  • Apply techniques to enhance one-to-one supervision sessions in typical and more challenging situations
  • Help students reflect on their performance honestly
