How do you help employees develop their careers? How do you deal with some of the dilemmas that might come up? Confident Career Conversations will give you the practical tools and skills you need.

Aims

Our Career Conversation Toolkit and Confident Career Conversations Programme will provide people with the skills and confidence to have meaningful career conversations. 

The Career Conversations Toolkit gives supervisors the practical tools, structure and questions to have effective career conversations that will engage, retain and develop their trainees without taking up lots of time. The Career Conversation Toolkit is a set of practical card-based tools for supervisors, mentors and coaches. It provides them with a flexible approach which means individuals take ownership for their career development and they don't have to have all the answers.

Our Confident Career Conversations programme provides supervisors with the practical skills and tools to empower trainees to take ownership of their career development. 

Learning outcomes

As a result of this session, you will:

  • Understand why career conversations are important to engage, retain and develop your employees
  • Discover who should have career conversations and your role as a supervisor/manager
  • Discover the characteristics of effective career conversations
  • Learn how to structure a career conversation and use powerful questions
  • Become familiar with the 10 Career Conversation Tools
  • Discover how to use each tool to have a meaningful career conversation in only 20 minutes without any complex process or paperwork
  • Understand the skill of sharing information and experience without telling someone what to do
  • Learn how to overcome the most common challenges that arise in career conversations
