SubjectGP Trainer Courses
Description"This session will be in two parts, aimed at improving understanding of public health and community orientation for you and your trainee. 1. Public Health The public health team at Wakefield Council will share their positive experience of hosting GP Trainees and how participating in the work of the public health team can enhance GP trainees' learning in clinical practice. In this session we will work together with the aim of improving the GP Trainees experience in a public health post and explore how trainees might improve their understanding about knowledge of public health can improve their clinical practice. 2. Community orientation is often poorly understood, with many trainees providing limited reflection on services offered in their community - eg charities or care agencies - rather than the looking at the population itself and its needs. In this session you will work together in small groups building confidence using data sets accessible either publicly or via your NHS login to create a description of your practice community and consider what this description means in terms of service provision/design and how you might share this in tutorials with your trainees.
