Whether you are just starting out, or have some experience already, sign up now for this innovative blended learning course that will help you develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to level up as a medical educator. PLEASE NOTE: both course days are on the same day of the week, please do your best to ensure you can attend both before booking.

This is a blended learning course. You will be given access to online materials via www.seventeenseconds.co.uk using the email attached to your Maxcourse account to complete in advance of and between the two ‘in-contact’ learning days, which will take place on Zoom. You will work through these materials and the in-contact days as a cohort, utilising principles of social, experiential, and blended learning.

Aims

The development of knowledge, skills and confidence in teaching and training in medicine.

Objectives

Enrolment as a cohort to an online learning course with a mixed media approach.

Two days of in-contact learning over zoom.

Learning outcomes

The course is mapped to the Academy of Medical Educators standards and the GMC’s generic professional capabilities. By the end of the course, you will:

• Understand the values required of medical educators

• Appreciate different learning styles and how to adapt your teaching methods to meet these

• Know how to develop learning outcomes

• Have an awareness of some principles of educational theory

• Understand clinical and educational supervision

• Be able to plan and deliver teaching in a one-to-one or small group setting

• Have developed skills in giving and receiving feedback

• Have delivered and reflected upon a teaching session, using the above principles

• Appreciate the benefits and risks of technology enhanced learning

• Know how to identify, support and signpost learners in difficulty

• Have contributed to improvement in the learning environment in your workplace

• Understand what equality, equity, diversity and inclusion means in the context of medical education

• Have planned your personal and professional development as an educator
